Sportswear

A retinal detachment requiring multiple surgeries is the inspiration for this collection. Featured are an eye motif and logo. “ALEX” offers an insight into the design process for this work.

The front view shows a wool-cashmere coat and pants with cotton button down shirt. The eye motif logo is spray-painted using a hand cut stencil.

The back view shows a wool-cashmere coat and pants. Suede detailing on top and bottom of the coat with hand-embroidered blanket stitch. Decorative seams inspired by the eye motif logo.

Meet the Designer

No medium has hypnotized me like the manipulation of fabric. Fabric provides possibilities that I love exploring and has such an important purpose in society. It connects designers to everybody in the world and I want to feel connected. I design for the female figure; it fascinates me. I have always had an appreciation for clothing and fashion and, as a young girl, I designed and sewed outfits for my dolls. My love for construction grew as I created costumes for cosplay, the practice of dressing up as a character from a movie, book, or game. I chose sportswear because it gave me the freedom to explore the more costumey aspects of design and construction. My design aesthetic has many forms and takes on several personalities, however, I always design with clean, precisely thought-out lines and silhouettes.
