Intimate Apparel
The design of this garment came about as the designer was healing from her’s parents’ divorce. Sometimes the way to heal is to cry out your feelings.
This ensemble is composed of a white bias dress worn with a red corset. The colors were chosen to convey a message of pain and healing.
My success as a designer is to give a voice and shape to some situations in life that have stayed unheard and hopefully that others may resonate and find healing.
The corset and the fringe ( end of the sleeve) were delicately beaded to give emphasis to the red. The corset is boned to provide support around the waist.
The glamourous ache of the red thread is an expression I’ve used to imply my inspiration of the Japanese legend about the red thread. This specifically manifest on the lacing of the corset.
Meet the Designer
When a sense of purpose hit the ground at age 8, all I could crave was fashion. Through history books, magazines, and fashion movies, I fed my desire for it. Fast-forward 10 years later, I took the bold step of applying to one of the best fashion schools in the world, FIT. Halfway through my major, I started to lean towards intimate apparel. What motivated me is the fact that intimates are such personal and delicate garments that act as weapons to carve meaning to a woman’s life. Through a minimal silhouette, yet with a dramatic touch, I dream of reminding women to trust themselves and own up to who they are. My vision for fashion has expanded, and therefore my dream is to communicate and hopefully convey a deeper message that will resonate with those who see it through my collections and the garments I create.
