“The Beauty of Corals”. My garment is inspired by the vibrant colors of healthy coral reefs.
I created individual coral polyps by hand gathering multiple layers of organza and tulle in different colors together and embellished it with multicolor glass beads on copper wire to imitate corals.

A total of 36 yards of boning and regaline together were used to create the shape that emulates a coral polyp for the overall silhouette.

It took over 20 yards of different types of fabrics, such as organza, tulle, and satin, in multiple colorways all being hand-gathered and sewn together to create this look.

It is very important to protect coral reefs for a healthy ecosystem. Bleaching damages the growth and reproduction of coral, and can impact other species that depend on the coral communities.
By creating this look, I hope that I was able to showcase my design skills and capture the beauty of corals while bringing awareness to the overall issue of coral bleaching.
Meet the Designer

Ever since I was a child, I was very passionate about fashion. I remember always drawing, sewing, and being involved in creative activities. From middle school to early high school I was part of a musical ensemble, performing with traditional musical instruments while wearing custom-made traditional clothing alongside famous Kazakh artists on big stages at both national and international scales. I was fascinated by the amount of craftsmanship and beauty in each and every piece of traditional clothing that we wore. I knew that I wanted to pursue fashion as a career. I chose special occasion as my specialization because I wanted to create intricate and beautiful pieces of wearable art. I love how every piece is made special with unique details, enormous amounts of craftsmanship, and creativity. I put my heart and soul into my designs and the end results always bring me so much joy.
